Akhnaten Spencer-El
Akhnaten Spencer El is a 2009 graduate of Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary where he completed his Maestro’s degree. A native of Harlem, NY, Akhnaten started fencing at the Peter Westbrook Foundation at the age of 13 and soon discovered his talent for fencing. As a member of the Peter Westbrook Foundation and an assistant coach at the Foundation since 1996, Aki is a three-time U.S. Junior Sabre National Champion, a two-time Senior National Sabre Champion (1999, 2000), and in 1998 was ranked as the No. 1 Junior Sabre fencer in the world and recognized as the United States Fencing Association’s 1998 Fencer of the Year. Additionally, Akhnaten has also been a member of four Senior World Championship Teams and a member of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team.
